My name is Andi Rickard and I was national scything champion from 2019 to 2022 and twelve times ladies champion.
I have been using a scythe since 2009 and teaching others since 2012.
I am a teaching member of the Scythe Association of Britain and Ireland (www.scytheassociation.org)
I have taught many people, young and old alike, from all walks of life, beginners and improvers. I have worked successfully with people with personal challenges such as ADHD, autism, PTSD and physical limitations.
I have also appeared on a number of radio and TV programmes including BBC Countryfile and most recently Good Morning Britain and Good Morning America (mowing the wildflower meadow at Highgrove House) and featured in newspapers and magazines such as The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, The Field and The Big Issue.
In 2019 I was honoured to represent Great Britain at the European Scythe Championships in Austria and finished a creditable 24th place. Not too shabby considering that most of the competitors were half my age!
